This is the story of Susan Nabukenya. Susan is a 14-year-old Ugandan girl who just arrived to Boston for life-saving plastic surgery at Boston Shriners. Susan was burned from her chest to her toes when she stepped too close to a cooking fire and her kerosene-stained dress ignited. She has lived with burn contractures and open wounds for four years and was forced to drop out of school. She had lost all hope. Until now. Join us as we journey with Susan towards a brighter future.

These pictures truly show the transformation in Susan over the past two months. This is about so much more than her injuries and surgery! Susan does not even resemble the sad, hopeless girl who arrived in May. Her smile now lights up a room and she has clearly opened her heart to her new "family" and friends. Team Susan has really transformed this beautiful young woman.

Susan, you have come so far. You should be very proud.
Susan, you were beautiful when you got here but you are now even more vibrant. I wish you all well, you are doing great work.
