Susan's Story

This is the story of Susan Nabukenya. Susan is a 14-year-old Ugandan girl who just arrived to Boston for life-saving plastic surgery at Boston Shriners. Susan was burned from her chest to her toes when she stepped too close to a cooking fire and her kerosene-stained dress ignited. She has lived with burn contractures and open wounds for four years and was forced to drop out of school. She had lost all hope. Until now. Join us as we journey with Susan towards a brighter future.

It takes a village . . .

As Susan's voyage unfolds, she will need our continued support. We are a small group who are honored with the task of caring for her while in the US, but we are also a group with modest resources. If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation (big or small) to help lift some of this weight, you can do so at www.engeye.org or www.jcause.org. We are so appreciative of all the support and encouragement thus far!

Checks and gift cards can also be mailed directly to Susan's host mom, Ms. Jackie Lamont. Please note that all checks made out directly to Jackie are not tax-deductible, while donations made directly to www.engeye.org or www.jcause.org are tax-deductible. Below is Jackie's address:
Jackie Lamont
PO Box 6585
Boston, MA 02114
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Theresa Weinman, Jackie's aunt, who is coordinating Susan's care, at harwick14@msn.com or 518.852.3353

How Can You Help Susan??
Susan currently does not attend school and sadly does not have a "home" to return to in Uganda. You can help change that! Susan will need approx. $800 per year to cover the cost of boarding school, which includes housing, books, meals, tuition and uniforms. We hope to see Susan through a college education.
